Wanda Mooney was raised in Charlemont, MA and her parents, Larry and Connie Burrington, owned and operated a successful motel and restaurant business on the Mohawk Trail which they sold in 1978. Growing up and working at a family owned business along with her two sisters and brother, helped Wanda develop strong work ethic and the importance of putting your customer’s first.
Wanda was fortunate to have horses and her parents made sure she was able to attend weekly competitions, bringing home many championship awards. Riding western and competing in Gymkhana events was her passion. At the age of 10, she earned the New England Reserve Championship Gymkhana Award from the New England Pinto Horse Association.
In 1985, she married John Mooney, a local building contractor. They built a log home on land that was in Wanda’s family for many generations. It began as a rugged hillside parcel and through many years of dedication and hard work it evolved into a beautiful countryside setting. After 25 years, the home is now being renovated and Wanda has discovered her new passion which is gardening. Her husband John uses the stone from their own property and created stonewalls, pathways, bird baths and stone benches that are integrated throughout Wanda’s gardens. Although Wanda has done a lot of traveling through the years, she now prefers spending time at home, taking weekend trips, browsing antique and specialty shops and spending time with Mille, her beloved Beagle.
In 1993, Wanda started her career in real estate. The combinations of understanding the importance of home ownership along with having a positive and enthusiastic personality makes Wanda a natural at selling real estate. Both buyers and sellers alike can depend on her guidance through what can be a very challenging and stressful process.
