The Smithsonian and Mass Humanities have partnered together to bring a traveling exhibition to several small towns in Massachusetts. The Smithsonian’s Museum on Main Street aims to reach underserved rural communities through their traveling exhibitions which explore common themes in American Life. An exhibition titled “Crossroads: Changes in Rural America” aims to spark discussions about changes in six small towns in Massachusetts, including our own Turners Falls.
The Smithsonian’s Museum on Main Street comes to Turners Falls’ Great Falls Discovery Center from February 5th to March 18th, 2023. Check the center’s opening hours to plan your visit.
Beyond the exhibition itself, Mass Humanities will also coordinate associated events and meetings to meet local needs and promote the stories across the Commonwealth and beyond. The organization will also provide grants to the host sites for events, exhibition planning, marketing, and staff time. They will also host workshops and provide a second year of funding to continue conversations and partnerships sparked from the Smithsonian tour.
