Massachusetts Maple Weekend is this Saturday and Sunday, March 18th and 19th, 2023 and there are lots of exciting maple-themed events happening in our area. Here in Franklin County we have several local sugar houses and maple farms which produce delicious syrup. Support these local maple syrup producers this weekend in honor of maple season!
Davenport Maple Farm
Davenport Maple Farm in Shelburne, Massachusetts has opened its doors for the 2023 maple season. This small family-owned farm has been operating since 1913 and has a sugar house and restaurant which only opens for sugaring season. However you can purchase their maple products at various local farm stores and farmer’s markets year round.
Their restaurant is only open for 6 weekends, Saturdays and Sundays from 8 am to 3 pm, so be sure to visit them while you can. Breakfast is served all day long with delicious pancakes, waffles, french toast, eggs, bacon, and of course served with maple syrup made right there.
Cranston’s Tree Farm
In celebration of Massachusetts Maple Weekend, Cranston’s Tree Farm in Ashfield, Massachusetts is opening their doors to the public to come and learn about their maple syrup operation. The team at Cranston’s Tree Farm is the 3rd, 4th, and 5th generations in their family to produce their maple syrup. They use a state of the art wood-fired evaporator to boil their sap, which is collected from over 1200 taps on their farm, and then turned into syrup.
Visit their sugarhouse at 197 Bellus Road in Ashfield on Saturday or Sunday between noon and 5 pm to take a tour and see how the syrup and maple products are made. They will also be making sugar on snow and if conditions are right, you might be able to see the boiling process. You’ll also be able to purchase their delicious maple syrup, cream, candy, and sugar.
Hager Bros. Maple Farm
Hager’s Farm Market is open year round, but you’ll especially want to visit them in honor of Maple Weekend to enjoy all their delicious maple products. Hager Bros. Maple Farm has over 12,000 taps from which they gather sap for their maple syrup. They sell their syrup, along with lots of other locally grown produce and local meats at their farm market on the Mohawk Trail in Shelburne, Massachusetts.
Hager’s Farm Market is especially known for their fried dough with maple cream. But they also have other yummy treats like pancakes and waffles served all day. You’ll also find maple candy, maple coated popcorn, sweet and spicy maple dip, and so much more at their market. This weekend they’ll also have a few specials such as a maple bacon hot dog and maple milkshake.
