Feature Friday: Wells Provisions in Charlemont, Massachusetts

wells provisions charlemont massachusetts market cafeFor this week’s Feature Friday, let’s head to Charlemont, Massachusetts to an excellent cafe and market, Wells Provisions. Opened in 2021, Wells Provisions has already become a staple of the small downtown Charlemont area. It’s the perfect place to stop in for a fresh coffee in the morning, or to purchase a craft beer or wine for the end of the day. Located right on Main Street, it’s convenient to stop in before work or before a day on the slopes. They also offer dine-in seating from where you can enjoy any of their delicious, hearty meals.

Owners Wesley and Levi Janssen came up with their family of five from New Orleans a few years ago and brought with them incredible Southern specialties like Gumbo, Po-Boys, Cajun Poutine, and Shrimp & Grits. You can enjoy their meals in the cafe, order them to-go, or just grab any of their ready-to-heat meals from the fridge to eat at home.

If you’re in the area on a Friday evening (or even if you’re not!) you’ll want to stop in and enjoy their Fried Chicken Fridays. Get a bucket of crispy Buttermilk Fried Chicken plus whichever sides you like. These tend to sell out so they offer reservations ahead of time by phone.

Did you know you can also stay in the gorgeous suites above Wells Provisions? Wesley and Levi have two 2-bedroom apartments above the cafe which are fully equipped with everything you need to be right at home. These suites are conveniently accessible to skiing at Berkshire East in the winter or rafting on the Deerfield River in the summer. Plus, you’ll be right above the cafe and market to grab coffee and breakfast in the morning.

View their menu and more at wellsprovisions.com or visit them at 159 Main Street in Charlemont, MA.
