The American Cancer Society is a national non-profit organization with efforts and events all around the country. Their goals include raising money to invest in cancer research, improving the lives of people affected by cancer, and providing opportunities for all to detect, prevent, and treat cancer.
Here in Franklin County there are great opportunities to get involved with the American Cancer Society. Each year we have our own Relay for Life fundraiser. This event not only raises money for the American Cancer Society. It also gives the community a moment to come together to celebrate cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost, and take action to save lives.
On Friday, June 9th, team members will take turns walking a track lined with luminaria bags, which honor those who have either had, survived, or lost the battle to cancer. You can create your own team or support participating teams at the Franklin County Fairgrounds. Go to the event page here for more information and to find the complete event schedule and go to cancer.org to learn more about the American Cancer Society.
