A Gem of Western Massachusetts: The Green River Festival 2023

The Green River Festival, a three day feast of music, food, and a maker’s market, nestled in the heart of Western Massachusetts returns to the Franklin County Fairgrounds. 

As NPR put it: “The Green River Festival Lineup gets more legendary by the year.” This year is no exception. The stage is going to be filled with famous music groups including Little Feat, The Wood Brothers, St. Paul & The Broken Bones, Rubblebucket, and Felice Brothers. 

Since 1986, the Green River Festival has been a central part of Western Mass culture. What started as a small celebration has quickly grown in popularity and now draws visitors from all over the country to the green hills of Western Mass. Music lovers enjoy seeing the artists they already know and love, as well as discovering emerging artists. Certain well-known artists performed at the Green River Festival early in their careers, including Avett Brothers, Brandi Carlile, Natalie Merchant, and Alison Krause. 

The music isn’t the only draw to the festival. Wandering the festival grounds, you’ll find vibrant art installations, craft vendors, and foods to delight. The Makers Market is the place to go to find unique treasures crafted by local artisans, as well as a variety of food options inspired by a variety of international cuisines and which cater to different dietary needs.  

The Green River Festival is fun for attendees of all ages. The Kids Tent and Art Garden provide exciting activities. Children can bring out their own creativity through crafts, workshops, and interactive performances.
