Massachusetts Sales Tax Holiday for 2023 will be held Saturday, August 12th and Sunday, August 13th. This means for that weekend most retail items of up to $2,500 purchased in Massachusetts for personal use will be exempt from sales tax.
Here in Franklin County we have many wonderful local businesses. Sales Tax Free Weekend is a great time to visit our local shops and perhaps buy certain items you have been eyeing. You can find beautiful, hand-crafted works made by local artists such as Molly Cantor, Ann Brauer, Josh Simpson, among others. Find works of several artists all in one place at galleries like Salmon Falls Gallery and Shelburne Arts Co-op, both in Shelburne Falls and Goose Divine Energy in Greenfield.
Go antiquing at local antique and thrift stores. There are several unique stops along the Mohawk Trail, including Trolley Stop Antiques, The Duck Pond Antiques and Garden Decor and Catamount Traders. Heading East on Route 2 from Greenfield, there is also Rustic Romance, Freight House Antiques, and Orange Trading Company.
Massachusetts Sales Tax Holiday is also a great opportunity to do your back-to-school shopping. Load up on books at Boswell's Books, The Book Mill, and Raven Books, to name a few.
As the end of summer approaches you might also want to save on some quality outdoor gear at local outfitters. Overwatch Outpost is the place for hunting and fishing supplies. Zoar Outdoor's Outfitter Shop has everything you need for a day on the river, including cold weather gear for fall.
Speaking of fall, stock up on gardening, lawn, and other home supplies at Shelburne Farm & Garden, Aubuchon Hardware, and Greenfield Farmers Cooperative Exchange.

Happy shopping!
