Mark your calendars for Saturday, August 10th, 2024, as the picturesque town of Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts, gears up to host the annual Bridge of Flowers Classic. This community event features both an 8K (4.97 miles) and a 3K (1.86 miles) race, offering options for runners of different skill levels.
For Runners
The race begins in downtown Shelburne Falls, with the 3K starting at 8:00 AM and the 8K at 9:00 AM.The course is known for its challenging hills and beautiful scenery, making it a favorite among participants.
Awards for both races will be presented at the Post-Race Party, hosted by the Blue Rock Restaurant, with music by DJ Bobby C. All finishers can enjoy a free ice cream at Mo's Fudge Factor (right next to McCusker's Market). If you're 21 or older, you'll get a free beer from Floodwater Brewery at the Blue Rock.
Registration for the race is online only and there won't be any in-person registration on race day. Make sure to sign up by August 7th, 2024!
For Volunteers and Spectators
Community involvement is crucial to the success of this event. Volunteers are needed for various tasks, from packet pickup to water stations along the route. All volunteers receive a free T-Shirt and choice of beer or ice cream. There are still spots available to volunteer. Register on the online form.
Spectators are encouraged to line the streets, cheering on the runners and enjoying the festive atmosphere.
Race Background
The Bridge of Flowers Classic has been a staple in the community for over four decades, with 2024 marking its 44th annual event. The race gets its name from the iconic Bridge of Flowers, a former trolley bridge turned into a stunning garden that spans the Deerfield River.

DIAL/SELF Youth & Community Services is the primary beneficiary of this event. Since 1977, this community-based non-profit has been empowering the youth of Western MA by offering services that connect them with housing, income, education, and civic opportunities. Participants can feel good knowing their entry fees and efforts contribute to worthy causes in the Franklin County area.
