The Mission
The Franklin County YMCA stands at the heart of Greenfield, Massachusetts, with a mission to provide opportunities for members to develop character and leadership, grow in mind, body, and spirit, and improve the quality of life throughout Franklin County. Their vision foresees communities where everyone can achieve health, gain confidence, make connections, and feel secure at every stage of life.
Membership
At the Franklin County YMCA, membership grants access to far more than just a gym or pool. Members benefit from:
- State-of-the-art fitness equipment: Enjoy modern cardio machines, a fully equipped free weight room, and access to personal exercise trainer appointments.
Aquatics: Use the pool for lap swimming, open swim times, family swim, and participate in water fitness and therapy classes. Youth swim lessons and aquatic certifications are also available.
- Group Exercise: Take advantage of more than 50 group classes every week, including barre, spin, Zumba, and chair fitness.
- Gymnasium: Shoot hoops, play pickleball, or go for an indoor walk. Youth sports classes are also a popular offering.
Day passes and family memberships are available, making it easy for anyone to join or try out what the Y has to offer.
Youth Activities
The Y is committed to nurturing new generations of changemakers. Its youth programming helps develop skills, confidence, and a sense of community. Highlights include:
Youth and Family Programs: Gather as a family, make new friends, and participate in group play or supervised activities while adults exercise. Activities are often free or low-cost for family membership holders.- Parents Night Out: On the 1st and 3rd Saturdays (September through May), parents can drop off their kids (ages 5 and up) for a fun-filled evening—games, crafts, and sports—while the adults take a break. Snacks are provided, and pricing is discounted for members.
- Summer Camps: Children and teens experience adventure and personal growth with hiking, swimming, creative and performing arts, and team-building games. Each camp session has a unique theme, from "Talent Show" weeks to culinary skills and detective adventures.
Special Events and Ongoing Engagement
From seasonal field trips for summer campers to regular family events and group outings, the Y consistently brings the community together. These events help build lasting friendships, support social-emotional development, and reinforce the Y’s core values: caring, citizenship, and generosity.
How to Support the Franklin County YMCA
The Y thrives thanks to community support and involvement. You can help in a variety of ways:
