The Franklin County Fair kicks off today in Greenfield, Massachusetts, bringing four days of cherished tradition, thrilling entertainment, and community spirit to the Franklin County Fairgrounds. This beloved annual event runs from Thursday, September 4 through Sunday, September 7, aspiring to be truly “A Blue Ribbon Affair!”
Fair Admission & Hours
Gate admission for 2025 is $15 for adults (18-59), with discounted rates of $10 for seniors (60+), youth (9-17), active military and veterans (with ID), and for everyone on Opening Night. Children 8 and under get in free, and parking is $10. The gates open at 3pm on Thursday and Friday, and at 8am on Saturday and Sunday, ensuring plenty of time to enjoy all the festivities. Fair buildings and exhibits follow slightly different schedules; most are open until at least 9pm on Thursday and Sunday, and until 10pm on Friday and Saturday.
Coleman Brothers Midway & Rides
The popular Coleman Brothers Midway returns, promising family fun with rides, games, and classic carnival treats. Midway hours are: Thursday and Friday open at 4pm, Saturday and Sunday at 12pm. Wristbands for unlimited rides are available on site; if purchased in advance (before last night), they were only $25.
Major Events & Attractions

Demolition Derby: This action-packed spectacle takes place Saturday and Sunday. Preferred seating in the grandstand starts at 5pm with general admission at 5:15pm.

Truck Pulls: Friday features the annual truck pull at 5:30pm, included with fair admission.

Parade: Opening day starts with the traditional fair parade at 5pm, winding through Greenfield’s downtown before arriving at the fairgrounds.
Must-see attractions also include Rock & Roll Racing (a new multi-track simulator experience), the Axe Women Loggers of Maine, Pirate Man Dan, Flippenout Trampoline Show, the Baby Barnyard, Fish & Wildlife exhibits, agricultural competitions, and a robust collection of craft vendors and displays.
Exhibits & The Roundhouse
Since 1899, the Roundhouse has been a showcase for homemade crafts, baking, photography, flower arranging, and more. Exhibitors of all ages can participate; children are encouraged to display their handmade creations in Youth Hall, with many fun categories and cash prizes.
Special Activities
Highlights include the Kids Power Wheels Demo on Saturday at 1pm (for ages 3-8), the Fair Museum open daily, and multiple community contests and educational exhibits across the buildings.
