The Inaugural Franklin County Fall Food Festival: BBQ, Classic Car Show, Music, and More

BBQ competitionThe Franklin County Fall Food Festival promises a vibrant day of community, cuisine, and creative fun at the Franklin County Fairgrounds in Greenfield. Set for Saturday, October 18th, the inaugural festival invites visitors for a lively celebration featuring dozens of vendors and family-friendly activities, all supporting the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts.

Vendors and Activities

Festival-goers will enjoy browsing offerings from 19 food and beverage vendors—including local favorites Four Phantoms Brewing Co., Cameron’s Winery, Cousins Maine Lobster, Dean’s Beans Organic Coffee Co., and the Montague Center Firefighters Association—alongside 46 craft and artisan vendors. With a marketplace bursting with local flavor, the event provides plenty of options for sampling, shopping, and supporting small businesses.

Local pitmasters are invited for a BBQ competition to show off their grilling skills and win bragging rights. Festival goers are invited to partake in the people’s choice contest for wings at 2 PM.

Benefiting the Franklin Area Survival Center, the 2nd Annual Roundhouse Rally Classic Car Show takes center stage from noon to 4 PM. All makes and models are welcome, with registration open from 10:30 AM to noon and a $10 entry fee.

Live music will fill the fairgrounds starting at 2 PM, with performances by Gabe Jay, Eric Phelps, and the Expandable Brass Band. Entertainment options also include Gaudium Galaxy’s “Nerf Frenzy,” where participants can compete in Nerf tournaments for prizes, and “Lawn Game Lightning,” an engaging outdoor challenge.

Admission and Community Impact

Admission to the festival is free, with guests encouraged to donate at least $5 for parking to support charitable giving. Echoing the spirit of its organizers—the Friends of the Franklin County Fairgrounds—the festival emerged as a local response to the need for community support and creative fundraising. It follows LifePath’s 33rd Annual Walkathon, which kicks off at the fairgrounds earlier that morning.

For anyone seeking a full day of autumn fun and local fare, the Franklin County Fall Food Festival delivers with its rich blend of food, crafts, music, and games.
