Dog lovers and adventure seekers alike will have a reason to celebrate this spring as Mutts and Mayhem returns to Greenfield on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at 11:00 am. Hosted at the scenic Green River Swim Area, this one-of-a-kind event invites participants to team up with their four-legged companions for a muddy, high-energy obstacle course designed for both humans and dogs.

A Paws-On Adventure for Humans and Dogs
Billed as a chance to “get doggone dirty,” Mutts and Mayhem challenges participants to run, walk, jump, splash, and laugh their way through approximately 1.5 miles of terrain. Along the course, teams will tackle 20 obstacle stations, all while staying connected—literally—on leash. Whether navigating muddy stretches, hopping over barriers, or splashing through water features, the focus remains on fun, teamwork, and a shared sense of adventure.
Race Details and Registration
The event is divided into two categories to ensure a comfortable experience for all dogs. Small dogs (up to 40 pounds) will kick things off at 11:00 am, followed by large dogs (over 40 pounds). Each category will compete on the same course, with an awards ceremony held afterward to recognize standout teams.
Participants can also look forward to a post-race rinse-off, treats, snacks, vendor booths, and photo opportunities to capture the day’s memorable (and likely muddy) moments.
Pre-registration is available for $40 through Friday, May 15, with day-of registration priced at $50. Organizers encourage early sign-ups as the event continues to grow in popularity. Registration is available online at: https://runsignup.com/muttsandmayhem

Rules and Safety First
Safety and enjoyment are top priorities. All dogs must be at least one year old, up to date on vaccinations, and comfortable around people and other dogs. Participants must be at least 10 years old and may run with only one dog.
Leashes are required at all times—no retractable leashes allowed—and harnesses are strongly recommended. The course is designed to be flexible; if a team cannot complete an obstacle, they may retry or complete a penalty activity instead. Handlers are reminded never to force their dog through any obstacle.

More Than a Race
Beyond the course, Mutts and Mayhem offers opportunities for community involvement. Volunteers are welcome to join the event team, while local businesses can participate as vendors or sponsors, adding to the lively, festival-like atmosphere.
