Maps, Local Tips, and a Friendly Hello on Bridge Street

Right in the middle of Shelburne Falls, the Village Information Center at 75 Bridge Street is an easy and worthwhile first stop for anyone visiting town. It’s open daily from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (April 25 through November 2) and offers exactly what you need when you arrive: clear info, helpful locals, and a place to get your bearings.

Village Information Center Shelburne Falls

Start Here: Get the Lay of the Land

Instead of scrolling through your phone trying to figure out what to do, visitors can walk in and get quick, reliable guidance. The center is staffed by local volunteers who know the area well and can point you in the right direction based on your interests.

Inside, you’ll find:

  • Brochures on local attractions, events, dining, and lodging

  • Maps for walking, driving, and hiking

  • A bulletin board with current happenings around town

A large downtown map highlights must-see spots like the Bridge of Flowers and the Glacial Potholes, making it easy to plan your route.

More Than Just Maps

The Village Information Center keeps things simple, but there are a few features that make it fun to explore:

  • A “Where are you from?” map where visitors can add a pin

  • A slideshow presentation about movies filmed in the area

  • A display cabinet featuring locally made goods

It’s not a shop—nothing is for sale—but it’s a good place to discover what’s made locally and where to find it.

A Convenient Place to Take a Break

The center doubles as a practical stop while you’re out exploring. It’s air-conditioned in the summer, heated when it’s chilly, and has public restrooms available inside. The building is also wheelchair accessible.

Whether you need a quick break, directions, or a reset before heading to your next stop, it’s an easy place to pause.

Run by Locals (Literally)

One of the standout things about the Village Information Center is that it’s entirely volunteer-run. The people behind the desk are locals who donate their time and knowledge to help visitors make the most of their trip.

Because of that, they’re always looking for additional volunteers. Anyone interested can reach out to learn more about getting involved.
