A Scenic Course Through Franklin County
One of the Greenfield Triathlon's biggest draws is its picturesque course. Athletes swim in the clear waters of the Green River, cycle along winding country roads, and run through some of the area's most beautiful landscapes.
Along the bike course, participants pass one of Franklin County's most iconic landmarks—the Historic Eunice Williams Covered Bridge—before continuing through peaceful rural roads that showcase the beauty of Western Massachusetts.
It's a challenging course, but also one that's known for its welcoming atmosphere and incredible scenery.

The Greenfield Triathlon offers two race distances, making it accessible for both newcomers and experienced competitors.

The Greenfield Recreation Department even offers Sunday training sessions leading up to race day, helping first-time participants build confidence while preparing for the event.
The race motto says it all: "To Finish Is To Win." Rather than focusing solely on podium finishes, the Greenfield Triathlon celebrates every participant who crosses the finish line.
Host Site for the 2026 Massachusetts Senior Games
The 2026 race also serves as the host event for the Massachusetts Senior Games, making this year's triathlon especially significant.
Athletes who will be 50 years of age or older by December 31, 2026, are eligible to compete in the Massachusetts Senior Games, with the Sprint Triathlon serving as a qualifying event for the 2027 National Senior Games in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Participants interested in qualifying must pre-register for the Massachusetts Senior Games in advance, as same-day registration is no longer available. Senior Games medals will be awarded to Sprint finishers, reflecting the National Senior Games race format.

Registration is currently open through Thursday, July 30, 2026, at 11:59 a.m. EST.
Late registration begins on July 31 and remains open until Saturday, August 1, at 6:00 p.m., with a 20% registration fee increase.
Athletes are encouraged to register early to secure their spot and avoid the late registration fee.
Volunteers Make the Race Possible
Behind every successful race is an incredible team of volunteers.
The Greenfield Triathlon requires more than 80 volunteers to safely and efficiently operate both race distances. Volunteers assist with packet pickup, registration, body marking, transition area security, water stations, course marshaling, finish line operations, food service, and event setup.
Volunteering is a great way to experience the excitement of race day while supporting athletes from start to finish. Community members who aren't racing are encouraged to join the volunteer team and help make this annual event a success.
