Scarecrow in the Park is one of Western Mass’ most unique fall events. Presented by the Bernardston Kiwanis Club, Scarecrow in the Park is a fund-raising effort for the Scholarship Fund where contestants create a unique scarecrow to stand in Cushman Park. The scarecrows are judged in certain categories which this year includes Scariest, Funniest, Prettiest, and Most Interesting Use of Materials. The rotating category will be READING, which will be the theme in which classrooms are invited to compete for the prize of $100 and a pizza party.

Come to Cushman Park on Saturday and Sunday, October 15th and 16th, 2022 to see all the creative scarecrows displayed. In addition to the contest, there will be live music, artists booths, children’s activities, delicious food, the tractor parade, and more! The event will officially kick off on Friday evening, October 14th with live music under the big tent.

A one-day music festival in downtown Turners Falls during the season when we need it the most!

Here in New England, we commonly refer to this time of year as mud season. During late winter and early spring, the dirt becomes muddy from melting snow and we feel stuck between two seasons. The land is filled with neither shimmering white snow, nor blossoming flowers, but instead there’s just mud.

To help us through this less favorable season, the Shea Theater in downtown Turners Falls has put together a one-day music festival just when we need it most, Mud Season! This Saturday, March 19th, 2022 from 11:30 am to 9:00 pm, you can enjoy live music performed by musicians from around the region. The lineup includes some of the best roots Americana artists in the valley, such as Love Crumbs, the Barnrocket Racketeers, and Cloudbelly.

The Old Deerfield Holiday Sampler Craft Fair is back again this weekend. Head to the Eastern States Exposition’s Better Living Center on November 20th from 9 am to 5 pm and 21st from 10 am to 4 pm. Entrance for the Old Deerfield Craft Fair is $8 for adults and free for children 12 and under. Proceeds from The Old Deerfield Craft Fairs benefit the Pocumtuck Valley Memorial Association, a local non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of crafts and the history of our surrounding Deerfield area.
