A History Rooted in Advocacy
The organization was born out of tragedy in 1989 when a coalition of residents and service providers came together in response to domestic violence incidents in Turners Falls. Opening its doors in 1990, The Brick House initially focused on providing accessible services and fostering community organizing. Over the years, it has evolved to address broader issues like economic development, youth empowerment, education, and advocacy. In 2003, the center moved into its current location—a renovated firehouse on Third Street.
