Meet the New Owners: Gretchen Gerstner & Amanda Nash

Gretchen Gerstner, an Ashfield resident and owner of Baked in Shelburne Falls, now runs the Lake House. With deep experience in both kitchens and business, Gretchen has reinvigorated the menu, staff, and welcoming spirit. She’s no stranger to community service—having delivered cookies to seniors during the pandemic as a former Ashfield police officer—and is passionate about fostering a space where everybody’s welcome. Gretchen leads with a hands-on approach, drawing both loyal Baked staff and seasoned Lake House veterans onto her team.

Amanda Nash: Stewarding the Lake House’s Future

Amanda Nash, a Northampton-based real estate investor, became the new owner of the property in June 2024. She brings a lifelong appreciation for community spaces and hospitality, ensuring the historic charm and accessibility of the Lake House are preserved for years to come. Amanda works in partnership with Gretchen and local Berkshire Brewing Company founder Gary Bogoff to create a true community hub while honoring the legacy of previous owners.

Whether you’re seeking a delicious meal, a beautiful lake view, or a welcoming place to gather with neighbors and friends, Ashfield Lake House captures the essence of Franklin County hospitality—one plate at a time.
