On Saturday, September 6, 2025, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the Great Falls Discovery Center will host a special family-friendly program led by wildlife ecologist Brad Timm, founder of the Northeast Wildlife Team.
The morning begins inside the Center’s Great Hall with a lively presentation inspired by Timm’s recent book, Wildlife Out Your Window: Fascinating Facts About 100 Animals Commonly Seen in the Northeastern U.S.. Drawing from his years of experience in the field, Timm shares surprising insights into the lives of animals that many people pass by every day without noticing. The talk promises to highlight not only the creatures themselves but also the small details—tracks, calls, and behaviors—that reveal their presence in our daily surroundings.
Following the presentation, participants will step outside for a relaxed walk along the bike path by the Connecticut River. This stretch of river corridor is a natural haven for birds, mammals, and other wildlife, making it an ideal place to put new knowledge into practice. Guests of all ages are invited to bring their curiosity and take part in spotting signs of wildlife, listening for calls, and appreciating the subtle activity that unfolds around us.
The program is designed for all ages, whether seasoned naturalists or families simply looking for a meaningful way to spend a Saturday morning together outdoors. The pace will be gentle and the focus will be on discovery rather than distance.
