The Ashfield Fall Festival: A Celebration of Community and Creativity

Ashfield Fall Festival MassachusettsAs the leaves turn vibrant shades and a crisp breeze sweeps through the hilltowns, the small town of Ashfield, Massachusetts, comes alive for its annual Fall Festival. Returning on October 11th and 12th, 2025, from 10 am to 5 pm, the Ashfield Fall Festival invites locals and visitors alike to experience the best of western Massachusetts in the heart of autumn.

Artisans and Local Makers

Every year, the festival transforms Ashfield’s downtown into an open-air gallery. The sidewalks are lined with tents where artists and crafters showcase their work, ranging from pottery and jewelry to paintings and woodwork. For those who appreciate creativity and craftsmanship, there’s no better place to discover unique gifts or add a handmade touch to a home.

Local Fare and Festival Food

Festival-goers can savor the traditional St. John’s blueberry cobbler, the Boy Scouts’ apple cider donuts, and hearty kielbasa grinders prepared by the Hilltown Snowmobile Club. Inside the Congregational Church, steaming bowls of corn chowder and satisfying sandwiches await, while those craving lively flavors can head to the Ashfield Rod and Gun Club’s booth for their famous chili.

For a classic twist, apple pie with sharp cheddar cheese is served at Town Hall, and additional treats can be found at Elmer’s Community Center, The Community Hall, and The Ashfield Hardware Store. Guests are encouraged to bring reusable bottles and bags to help keep the event sustainable, with water stations and reusable merchandise available throughout Main Street.

Entertainment for All Ages

On Saturday, October 12th, the festivities kick off at 11:00 am with the Hilltown Ham Hocks. At noon, the ever-popular Pumpkin Games take center stage, followed by the Ashfield Community Band at 1:00 pm. The DiTrani Brothers bring their distinctive sound at 2:15 pm, and the afternoon wraps up with vibrant Morris Dancing at 3:30 pm.

Sunday, October 13th, begins at 11:00 am with harmonies from the Fiery Hope Chorus, followed by One Part Luck at noon and a performance by Jim Matus at 1:00 pm. The music continues with High Tea at 2:00 pm and Over Easy Jazz at 3:00 pm, closing out the day with Barn Rocket at 4:15 pm.

In addition to the musical entertainment, the festival's midway is packed with homemade games designed and run by children, making it a special attraction for families. Visitors can try their hand at rope ladders, Pirate’s toss, catapults, marble mazes, and more, providing fun for all ages.

Giving Back Through the Festival

Beyond the celebration, the Ashfield Fall Festival supports the community in meaningful ways. Sales of festival T-shirts directly contribute to a scholarship fund, helping local students pursue higher education goals. Each shirt purchased doesn’t just mark a memory—it makes a tangible difference in a neighbor’s future.

Volunteering and Community Spirit

It’s a true community affair, made possible by volunteers who lend a hand behind the scenes. Those willing to help can pitch in with setup, coordinate events, or assist festival-goers. Volunteer opportunities offer a way for everyone to get involved, meet new friends, and help sustain the festival’s tradition of neighborly spirit. See volunteer opportunities here.
