The wheels will be turning and tails will be wagging when Pedal for Pups rolls into Turners Falls on Saturday, June 27. This community cycling event brings together riders, dog lovers, and supporters for a day of fun, fitness, and fundraising—all to benefit the Friends of the Franklin County Regional Dog Shelter. The event features both a 30-mile ride and a family-friendly 7.28-mile Fun Ride, with all rider fundraising efforts helping local dogs in need. Costumes are encouraged, helmets are required, and e-bikes are welcome.
If you missed the opportunity to sign up, don't worry. The online registration deadline passed on June 19, but there is still a meaningful way to participate: support the riders through donations. Donations can be made even without registering, and every dollar helps provide care for dogs at the shelter.

How You Can Help
While the riders will be doing the pedaling, the community can play a huge role in making the event a success.
Donate to a rider. Every contribution helps fund veterinary care, vaccinations, spay and neuter procedures, dental work, emergency medical treatment, enrichment programs, and daily care for shelter dogs. Donations go directly toward improving the lives of animals waiting for their second chance.
Come out and cheer. Community support along the route can make a big difference. Bring your family, friends, and maybe even your own four-legged companion to cheer on the cyclists as they ride through the area. Encouragement from spectators helps create the welcoming atmosphere that makes local fundraising events special.
Spread the word. Share information about Pedal for Pups with friends, neighbors, and fellow animal lovers. Even if someone can't ride or attend, they may be willing to support a participant's fundraising efforts.

More Than a Bike Ride
Pedal for Pups is more than just a cycling event—it's a fundraiser that directly supports the Friends of the Franklin County Regional Dog Shelter, the nonprofit organization dedicated to helping the shelter provide exceptional care for stray, lost, and unwanted dogs. One hundred percent of rider donations benefit the organization and its mission.
The event begins at Unity Park in Turners Falls, with the 30-mile ride starting at 9 a.m. and the Fun Ride beginning at 10 a.m. Riders who raise at least $50 also earn a commemorative event T-shirt.

About the Franklin County Regional Dog Shelter
Located in Turners Falls, the Friends of the Franklin County Regional Dog Shelter support a regional shelter that serves communities throughout Franklin County. The shelter's mission is to protect and improve the lives of stray, lost, and unwanted dogs by providing a safe environment, quality care, enrichment, and placement into homes that are the right fit for each animal.
Since opening in 2012, the shelter has worked to give dogs individualized attention and care while they await adoption or reunification with their families. The nonprofit Friends organization was established to raise the funds needed to support these services, ensuring dogs receive medical care, enrichment, and the resources necessary to thrive during their stay.
Every adoption, reunion, and success story begins with community support. Events like Pedal for Pups help ensure that the shelter can continue its work for years to come.
So even if you won't be riding this year, you can still be part of the effort. Donate to a rider, cheer along the route, and help make a difference for the dogs who are waiting for a brighter future.
