The Annual Trolleyfest in Shelburne Falls is a celebration of the restoration of Trolley No. 10, which at one time was an active trolley in Shelburne Falls. Hosted by the Shelburne Falls Trolley Museum, Trolleyfest is happening on Saturday, September 24th, 2022 from 11 am to 5 pm. During Trolleyfest, get a discounted all-day pass at $4.00 per person and enjoy lots of fun activities.
As always, there will be trolley car rides and pump car rides. In addition, there will be lots of fun Trolleyfest activities such as Speeder (aka Motorcar) Rides, wooden and electric trains, sending messages via telegraph, hands-on demonstrations of trolley-era activities, railroad movies, and more. There will also be food for sale and a Railroad Tag sale.

A new non-profit organization has joined our Shelburne Falls community to offer educational exhibits and demonstrations around Permaculture. The Permaculture Place is setting up shop in the historic mill in beautiful Shelburne Falls with the mission to increase our awareness of the need to practice more regenerative and sustainable ways of living.
To celebrate their grand opening in style, The Permaculture Place invites the community for an outdoor concert. Bring a blanket or camping chair and join them at 6 pm on Sunday, June 5, 2022 and enjoy a live show by Stuart Kenney and DriveTrain. Hailing from mid-coast Maine and Western Massachusetts, the trio will take you on a musical journey of Appalachia, Bluegrass traditions, Downeast fiddle tunes, and more. As we move further into springtime, it is so nice to see bits of color everywhere and have a little more warmth and sunshine. However, if you really want to escape into an oasis in the middle of Western Mass, then Magic Wings Butterfly Conservatory is the place to go. Located in South Deerfield, the conservatory is 8,000 square-feet and houses nearly 4,000 exotic and domestic butterflies. The butterflies can flutter among various tropical plants and flowers and small ponds which hold Japanese Carp, or Koi fish. If you’re lucky, a butterfly might even land on you! The best part is: they keep the conservatory at tropical temperatures, so you can enjoy the warmth, even when it’s cold outside.
Magic Wings also has a gift shop to purchase some butterfly souvenirs and outdoor gardens for the warmer weather. They offer the option to host events in their facilities, as well, such as weddings, birthday parties, meetings, or other private parties.
Magic Wings is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm. No reservations are necessary and the cost of admission is $16.00 for adults and $10.00 for children aged 3 to 17. Children under age 3 get in free! They also offer discounts for seniors and students. So grab your friends and family and experience the warmth and beauty of the butterfly oasis at Magic Wings Butterfly Conservatory.

Avery’s General Store in Charlemont is one of the oldest general stores in New England. Opened in 1861, the store was passed down through five generations of Averys. Today the store is an employee-owned and employee-run business. Although it has changed hands over the years, it has always maintained its classic New England charm, proudly wearing the slogan “If you can’t find it at Avery’s, you probably don’t need it.”
Over the years, the store has served the surrounding hilltown residents, making it easy to stop in for some quick groceries, rather than having to take the drive to Greenfield. At Avery’s you can find fresh house-made sandwiches and more fresh meat at their deli, local produce and groceries, hardware items, and more. The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly and they will always try to help you get what you’re looking for, even if they don’t have it on-hand at the moment.
